South Australia have been skittled for a humiliating 104 as Tim Paine helped Tasmania cruise to a crushing one-day win in Melbourne.

The entire match at Junction Oval spanned just 49.3 overs.

Test skipper Paine topscored with 54 as Tasmania reached 1-108 in 17.3 overs, securing a nine-wicket victory and two bonus points.

SA captain Travis Head, having opted to bat, was summoned to the middle in the third over after Jake Weatherald was run out for a diamond duck.

The dismissal set the tone for a disastrous innings, which ended with a collapse of 9-72.

Head (12), Harry Nielsen (19), Callum Ferguson (26), Jake Lehmann (14) and Cameron Valente (12) all reached double figures then failed to go on with it.

Express paceman Riley Meredith, playing for the first time since making his international debut on Australia's Twenty20 tour of New Zealand, was named man of the match.

Meredith dismissed Head and Ferguson to snag 2-22 from seven overs.

Caleb Jewell (43 not out) and Paine made predictably light work of the chase.
