SA Police plead for witness to come forward after teen sexually assaulted on New Year's Eve

SA Police are searching for a "dark-haired man" after a 16-year-old girl was pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted at a beach on New Year's Eve.

Police say the girl was assaulted after she became separated from her friends while celebrating New Year's Eve on Dump Beach at Hayborough, near Victor Harbor.

Police believe about 200 people were at the beach at the time and say a woman who spoke with the girl immediately afterwards may have witnessed the assault.

Investigators have not been able to identify the woman and are asking her to come forward.
