SA Police says it will investigate the authenticity of a photo showing a man in a police uniform appearing to snort a white substance.
The image shows the man leaning over a table and wearing what appears to be an SA Police (SAPOL) uniform without identification numbers.
Police have said they would investigate whether there was any involvement of a SAPOL employee or whether "an item of police uniform" has been stolen.
In a statement, a spokesperson said SA Police had "not previously been made aware of the image", which was reportedly published on Facebook.
"An investigation will be undertaken which will attempt to ascertain the authenticity of the image, any involvement by a SAPOL employee, or whether an item of police uniform has been unlawfully obtained," the spokesperson said.
Last year, SA Police launched an investigation into a photo that purportedly showed one of its uniformed police officers supporting Hong Kong's police force.
