Tensions between two South Australian MPs could spill over into the courts after this weekend's election.
South Australia's Sport and Recreation Minister Leon Bignell confirmed he was considering legal action against the outgoing Member for Finnis, Michael Pengilly.
On ABC Radio this week Mr Pengilly claimed Mr Bignell did not pay the entry fee at a recent horse racing event on Kangaroo Island.
Mr Pengilly claimed that after trying to enter through the horse owner's entrance, where he was asked to pay, Mr Bignell then allegedly said he did not have to pay because he was the Minister.
But Mr Bignell strongly denied the allegations, and the claims were "libellous".
"No-one at all said not to go through that gate. No-one said 'Where's your money?' I had the passes on, as we do," Mr Bignell said.
"I'll be taking a look at taking legal action once we get this election out of the way."
"To make things up is just terrible in this day and age."
Mr Pengilly is retiring from his position as the Member for Finnis after 12 years — something the Member for Mawson, Mr Bignell, said was a good thing.
"This is the great thing that will happen on Saturday — regardless of who wins — is that Michael Pengilly will no longer represent that wonderful piece of South Australia because he is very divisive," Mr Bignell said.
"I think it's really counter-productive to have people like Mr Pengilly, who's been in Parliament for 12 years, who's achieved very, very little. Except, probably taking pot-shots at people on the island, including in the council, [and] the newspaper."
