A returned overseas traveller from South Australia has been accused of threatening to spit on hotel security guards in Perth after leaving his room while in quarantine.
Police say the 48-year-old, an Australian citizen returning from Poland, was approved to enter Western Australia for compassionate reasons.
He arrived on a flight from Doha on January 28 and was directed to stay in a quarantine hotel for 14 days.
Police allege the man left his room on Sunday and failed to comply with a request from security to return, instead entering an emergency stairwell.
It's alleged that while in the stairwell, he threatened to spit in the face of security staff who retreated to a safe distance.
The man returned to his room where he was arrested before being relocated to the Perth Watch House.
He has been charged with failing to comply with a direction and threatening to injure, endanger or harm any person.
He has been refused bail and will face Perth Magistrates Court on Monday.
