SA man dies from meningococcal disease

SA health authorities say a 20-year-old man has died from meningococcal disease. (AAP)

A 20-year-old man from regional South Australia has died in hospital after contracting meningococcal disease.

SA Health said on Monday that 11 people who had contact with the man have been given precautionary antibiotics.

There have been 12 cases of meningococcal disease in South Australia so far this year compared to five at the same time last year and 27 in 2019.
