A South Australian man has been charged with endangering life and dangerous driving after allegedly striking a police officer in a traffic incident that also left him injured.
Police say the incident began just before 4pm on Monday, when a stolen Range Rover was spotted travelling at speed at suburban Lockleys.
It was tracked by a police helicopter but when approached by several officers at nearby Fulham Gardens, it reversed and struck a female officer, dragging her for several metres before driving off.
The driver dumped the car soon after but was hit by another vehicle as he ran from the scene.
The 38-year-old was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.
He has since been charged with two counts of endangering life, dangerous driving to escape police and illegal use of a motor vehicle and will appear in court by video link on Tuesday.
The officer was also taken to hospital with a leg injury but is expected to make a full recovery.
