South Australia is hoping to avoid further COVID-19 travel restrictions with NSW with authorities also optimistic the AFL game between the Sydney Swans and Port Adelaide can go ahead as planned this weekend.
A cluster of coronavirus cases in Sydney's eastern suburbs has grown to 11, with two more reported on Monday.
The situation has prompted SA to ban any new arrivals from the Waverley Council area while those already in SA must self-isolate for 14 days and get three tests.
Premier Steven Marshall says local officials are watching the situation closely but he doesn't think further restrictions will be required.
"You can never rule anything out with COVID-19 because it can move very quickly," he told reporters on Monday.
"But what I can say in NSW they've got on top of this very quickly. They're taking it very, very carefully over there."
Mr Marshall said SA Health was also liaising with the AFL over Saturday night's game and he was hopeful it would proceed, subject to the same strict rules on the visiting team as those imposed on Melbourne clubs recently.
That includes having the players fly in and out on the same day on a charter plane, restricting the size of the group who must all return a negative test before arriving and also requiring a declaration that they have not visited any coronavirus exposure sites.
"We don't want to go backwards by bringing COVID-19 into South Australia. So we do take a prudent position on this," Mr Marshall said.
SA reported three new virus cases on Monday but all were returned travellers in hotel quarantine.
The state has seven active infections, all in isolation.
