S&P Global's Q3 2025 Earnings: What to Expect

Valued at $146.5 billion by market cap, New York-based S&P Global Inc. (SPGI) provides governments, businesses, and individuals with market data, expertise, and technology solutions for confident decision-making. Widely sought after by many of the world’s leading organizations, S&P Global offers credit ratings, competitive benchmarking, and data-driven analytics in global securities markets.

The financial sector giant is set to announce its third-quarter results before the market opens on Thursday, Oct. 30. Ahead of the event, analysts expect SPGI to deliver an adjusted profit of $4.29 per share, up 10.3% from $3.89 per share reported in the year-ago quarter. The company has a solid earnings surprise history. It has surpassed the Street’s bottom-line estimates in each of the past four quarters.

 

For the full fiscal 2025, S&P Global is expected to deliver an adjusted EPS of $17.20, up 9.6% from $15.70 in 2024. In fiscal 2026, its earnings are expected to surge 11.1% year-over-year to $19.10 per share.

SPGI stock prices have dropped 6.6% over the past 52 weeks, notably underperforming the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund’s (XLF17.6% gains and the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX17.2% returns during the same time frame.

S&P Global’s stock prices gained 4.1% in the trading session following the release of its better-than-expected Q2 results on Jul. 31. The company benefited from the execution of its customer initiatives and resilience in the debt and equity markets. Its revenues for the quarter grew 5.8% year-over-year to $3.8 billion, surpassing the Street’s expectations by 2%. Further, driven by a slight margin expansion and the impact of share repurchases, SPGI’s adjusted EPS surged 9.7% year-over-year to $4.43, beating the consensus estimates by 4.2%.

Analysts remain optimistic about the stock’s prospects. SPGI maintains a consensus “Strong Buy” rating overall. Of the 25 analysts covering the stock, opinions include 20 “Strong Buys,” three “Moderate Buys,” and two “Holds.” Its mean price target of $619.24 suggests a 29.5% upside potential from current price levels.
