S Marcus Epps wants to prove the Vikings right

The Vikings selected Wyoming safety Marcus Epps with a sixth-round pick. Throughout the draft process, Epps heard that he could go anywhere from the sixth round to possibly undrafted, which is where NFL.com projected him.

Epps is used to proving people wrong, though. He started his career at Wyoming as a walk-on player and ended up being a three-time captain. Epps finished his college career with 324 total tackles and nine interceptions.

Instead of proving people wrong on where he should have gone, he’s more interested in the opinion of the Vikings organization, which is smart.

“I am just more looking forward to proving the Minnesota Vikings organization right and proving myself right and to all the people who believed in me,” Epps said on Saturday in a conference call.

The Vikings have a need at safety after releasing Andrew Sendejo this offseason. Anthony Harris will start alongside Harrison Smith, but we’ll see if Epps can provide some depth.
