S.Luca mega queue forms as Scots flock to popular East Lothian ice cream shop

An Edinburgh mum has described how she faced a '45 minute wait' for ice cream today as locals flocked to S. Luca in East Lothian.

A combination of lockdown rules being eased on Friday and sunny weather saw queues as far as the eye could see at the Musselburgh High Street cafe and ice cream shop.

In the latest lockdown easing, Scots are now permitted to travel to any local authority area for exercise or socialising, with groups of six people from six households now allowed to meet up outdoors.

According to an eyewitness, who was picking up ice cream with their children today, the relaxation of rules has made the ice cream shop busier than usual.

The eyewitness told Edinburgh Live how there were 'nearly 70 people in the queue' as they waited to pick up a treat.

They said: "I've never seen a queue so big for ice cream.

"It's a 45-minute wait.

"Lots of people have obviously travelled to East Lothian now that the rules have changed."

Locals are more than happy to queue in the sunshine yesterday at the new Civernios Slice at Portobello.
