NEW DELHI: Foreign minister S Jaishankar will attend a virtual meeting of Brics foreign ministers on Thursday. The meeting will be hosted by Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi, ahead of the virtual Brics summit that will see the participation of PM Narendra Modi.
Ukraine, pandemic, need for strengthening and reforming the multilateral system and counter-terrorism are among the issues that will be discussed in the meeting. It will also see a ‘Brics Plus’ dialogue with foreign ministers of some other developing countries, said the Chinese foreign ministry. Besides Jaishankar, South African foreign minister Naledi Pandor, Brazilian foreign minister Carlos Franca and Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov will attend the meeting.
