S***faced Shakespeare to perform Romeo and Juliet, drunk, in Newcastle

One of Shakespeare's most famous plays will be performed by an inebriated cast in Newcastle.

S***faced Shakespeare return to the Tyne Theatre stage on Saturday October 24, 2020, this time to perform Romeo and Juliet. The company combines a serious adaptation of a Shakespeare play, but one of the cast members will have spent four hours drinking before the show. The actor is picked at random.

The company were in Newcastle earlier this year, when they performed a Midsummer Night's Dream.

Tyne Theatre & Opera House say: "With a gin in one hand, a cup of wine in the other and a flagon of ale in the other, this is not your typical Newcastle night out.

"S***faced Shakespeare seeks to introduce a new generation of theatre-goers to the works of the Bard by reviving the raucous, interactive and vibrant nature of Elizabethan theatre with a very modern twist – reminding them as we go to always enjoy Shakespeare responsibly."

Tickets are priced at £20.50 on sale through www.tynetheatreandoperahouse.uk
