S Club to release first new music in 20 years as tribute to late member Paul Cattermole

S Club are set to release their first new music in 20 years as a moving tribute to late member Paul Cattermole.

The noughties chart-topping band, which was originally known as S Club 7 due to the number of members, announced in February that they were reuniting for a tour to mark their 25th anniversary.

Things took a devasting turn, however, when Cattermole died suddenly of heart issues aged 46 in April.

They then announced their intention to continue as a five-piece when Hannah Spearritt, who had previously been in a long-term relationship with Cattermole, decided to leave the group.

Now, they will release their first single in two decades entitiled These Are The Days and the accompanying music video will “celebrate” Cattermole’s life.

S Club announced that they were reforming for a reunion tour in February with all seven original members prior to Paul Cattermole’s death (PA)

“The single has been written by the same team who were behind the majority of their Number Ones,” a source told The Sun.

“It is a beautiful slice of nostalgia and fans will instantly recognise it as S Club.

Adding: “It is about looking back at what an amazing man Paul was and the video was extremely emotional for them all.”

The Standard contacted a representative for S Club, who confirmed that the single will be released on Wednesday.

They are due to kick off their tour, which has been renamed The Good Times Tour, in October.

Spearritt meanwhile has announced that she will release a tell-all memoir at around the same time.
