S Club's Rachel Stevens admits she's 'terrified' over Dancing On Ice debut

Rachel Stevens has opened up ahead of her Dancing on Ice debut saying she's terrified about appearing on the show after learning to skate from scratch.

The S Club 7 star, 43, is excited about taking part in the show and is matched with ice pro Brendyn Hatfield, but admits her lack of any previous ice skating experience is playing heavy on her mind.

She was quick to note that her only time on ice as 'wobbling around' with her two children, Amelie, 11, and Minnie, seven.

The mum-of-two told Hello : ''It's such a great team of people and I love my partner, so it's all super-exciting but terrifying at the same time. Totally terrifying!"

Rachel confessed she is a total newbie to the ice and said she is starting from scratch when it comes to learning the skills needed to perform.

She continued: "But I can't wait to just go for it and have fun – and I'm loving working with Brendyn. He's just adorable and such a brilliant teacher.'

And the 90s hitmaker has already faced backlash on social media as some claimed she has advantage over those contestants from non stage professions.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star told The Sun: "They said the same thing when I did Strictly. I'm not a trained dancer so going into that was totally out of my comfort zone and a different way of performing."

"Of course, if you're a performer you've got that experience behind you, but I think everyone's got to just bring themselves to the show. That's what people enjoy watching – the journey."

And her coach and parter Brendyn appeared impressed by her progress, sharing on Twitter : "Beyond thrilled with her skating ability and her excitement to learn even more. I literally can’t wait to start creating our future routines together!''

A new line-up of hopeful, including Love Island star Liberty Poole and Happy Mondays Bez, will make their debut next week.

Also taking to the ice are Coronation Street actress Sally Dynevor and Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, and Strictly pro Oti Mabuse will be casting a watchful eye as her first time in the judging panel.
