Hannah Spearritt leaves S Club 7 after death of Paul Cattermole

Pop band S Club 7 has rebranded as S Club following the death of Paul Cattermole. Hannah Spearritt will not join their 25th anniversary tour which will see the band become a five-piece.

Member Jon Lee said in a video on the band’s Instagram: “You’ve probably noticed that there’s only five of us here today, and although Hannah will always be part of S Club 7, she won’t be joining us on this tour. We wish her all the best for the future.”

The number seven had been removed from the band’s social media and website on Sunday. Founding member Mr Cattermole died at his home in Dorset on April 6 aged 46.

The band, who announced in February that they were touring in October to celebrate their 25th anniversary, shared an emotional video on social media telling fans that Hannah will no longer be taking part. Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett gave an update on Instagram. They spoke together as a group for the first time since their devastating loss.

“In all honesty, we’ve been in a bit of shock,” they explained. Jo and Tina wiped away tears as they paid tribute to Paul, who they said would 'light up a room.' And Jon said: “You’ve probably noticed that there’s only five of us here today, and although Hannah will always be part of S Club 7, she won’t be joining us on this tour. We wish her all the best for the future.”

The band explained that they were renaming the S Club 7 Reunited Tour the Good Times Tour in tribute to Paul "because that was his song." Tina added: "It feels right."
