Rylan shows dating attempts on Hinge as fans say it's 'pure filth' and prompts Helen Skelton response

Rylan Clark has given fans a glimpse inside his world of dating again almost two years after his marriage split. The BBC Radio 2 host split from his husband, ex-MET detective Dan Neal, after six years in 2021, with the news coming out amid a four-month break from the spotlight.

The pair met on Big Brother's Bit on the Side - which Rylan was hosting - in 2013 after Dan appeared in the 14th series of Big Brother and they became engaged the following year. They then tied the knot in November 2015. But by summer 2021, the marriage was over and the split led to Rylan having a breakdown and being admitted to hospital, as he was "a threat to myself".

He recalled how he couldn't fulfil the smallest task, such as making a cup of tea, but slowly rebuilt his life. And in his book, Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, which was released last year and chronicles his life from finding fame on The X Factor in 2012 up until now, Rylan detailed for the first time the reasons for the end of his marriage.

He admitted he had cheated "years ago" but only told Dan in 2021. He wrote: "I woke up one morning and decided to tell my now ex that I had cheated on him, years ago. I’m not sure why it was that time, or that day I had to do it. But I did." On the reaction, Rylan continued: "He left. Told me it was over and that was that. You’re not surprised? I get that. But I couldn’t believe it."

Since then, Rylan has thrust himself back into work and appears to be back on the dating scene. Taking to Twitter on Wednesday (May 17), the 34-year-old shared a screenshot of the start of a conversation on Hinge.

It appeared to show another user 'liking' the TV and radio star's picture on the dating app. The image showed him topless and soaking up the warm weather in his huge garden at his Essex abode.

After receiving the 'like' Rylan typed a response which read: "Evening mate how's u?" but before getting a response, he sent another message and joked: "Just to get it out of the way. You after my gardener's number?" Sharing the screenshot on Twitter, the former X Factor star said: "Mates- 'why don’t you try hinge…' Me-."

Countryfile host and Strictly Come Dancing 2022 finalist Helen Skelton was among those who responded to the brilliantly relatable post, writing: "Is it sad I really like the lawn in this pic." Fans, meanwhile were in hysterics after seeing the exchange.

@Charlottesayshi said: "Ngl that’s lawn goals! You might wanna change your photo." @yarner99 replied: "TBF that’s some pretty awesome grass u got there babes." @LouiseLacy joked: "That lawn is pure filth." @Thegeordiefaith added: "Unreal grass though mate."

It comes after Rylan hinted he was looking for love last month. Fans of the former Strictly: It Takes Two host said 'it should have been you' as he mocked up a version of his own movie poster just before it was revealed that he had landed a huge soap role. He took to Twitter with a picture of himself in an ad for the new Barbie movie.

A new trailer for the Warner Bros film, based on the Barbie fashion dolls by Mattel and starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, was released earlier this month as well as a series of posters featuring the different characters in front of the classic Barbie symbol. A running joke in the posters is that each Barbie or Ken actor is playing a version that has a unique profession.

However, Rylan switched his up and appeared to hint that he's looking for love, nearly two years after confirming his split from his husband Dan Neal. Using a promo image from his hosting gig on Strictly - It Takes Two, Rylan mocked up his own poster which read: "This Ken is looking for another Ken."
