Rylan reveals Motsi will return to Strictly next week after she's forced to miss show

Motsi Mabusi will be back on Strictly Come Dancing next week after being forced to miss this week's show due to coming into close contact with someone with Covid.

Rylan Clark announced the news on tonight's Strictly: It Takes Two and confirmed that award-winning actress Cynthia Erivo will be stepping in for Motsi on the judging panel.

Viewers were impressed with Cynthia's performance last week when she stood in for Craig Revel Horwood, who was quarantining after being diagnosed with Covid.

One fan responded to the news of the award-winning singer's return saying: "Loved Cynthia, glad she'll be back."

In a statement posted on social media, Motsi said that she was "gutted" to be absent from this weekend's shows.

She wrote: "I am gutted to say I will have to miss this weekend on Strictly. Yesterday, I was contacted by NHS Test and Trace as being in close contact with someone on Sunday 21st Nov who has since tested positive.

"Being double vaccinated and booster as I am would normally mean exemption from isolation under the 'close contact' rules, but unfortunately German EU vaccines are not recognised and neither is my booster in this instance - so I must follow UK Government guidance and can only return after November 30."

Viewers will be pleased to know Craig will be returning to the Strictly panel this weekend, although whether the same can be said for the contestants remains to be seen.

Covid has put paid to several of the show's plans this year with Tom Fletcher and his dance partner Amy Dowden having to miss Strictly because of Covid as well as Loose Women presenter Judi Love.

And last year boxer Nicola Adams was forced to quit the show because her partner Katya Jones tested positive.

Of course it's not just Strictly that's been affected. This week Richard Madeley was forced to quit I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! after breaking the show's Covid bubble.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 6.45pm.
