Rylan Clark supported by fans after announcing most personal move yet after saying divorce 'almost killed him'

Rylan Clark has been flooded with support from fans after announced possibly one of his most personal work projects to date. The BBC Radio 2 host took to Instagram to share the news that he's releasing his very own podcast.

The image posted to his millions of followers featured his portrait and the words: "Rylan How To Be A Man," and he explained more in the caption. "What it means to be a man is something I’ve thought about my whole life; how you’re supposed to look, behave, speak or even think, and where I fit into it all," Rylan typed.

"It’s especially relevant at the moment with terms like 'toxic masculinity' being bandied around, and I’m over the moon to be hosting my first podcast about a subject so close to my heart. Getting to speak to people I admire so much was such a thrill and listening to their different takes on masculinity gave me a lot to think about."

The 35-year-old then added: "I’m very grateful to all of them for opening up to me about their experiences," before confirming the podcast will be available as a box set on BBC Sounds from Tuesday, May 9, and broadcast weekly on BBC Radio 4 from May 18.

And his fans and followers were rushing to the comments section to respond, showing their support and sharing their praise for Rylan. @julieprice357 said: "You are an amazing example of a man and credit to yourself and your Mother! A complete role model."

@gillz87 commented: "Sounds great hun! can’t wait to listen." @chell.stormy posted: "Sounds great. Can’t wait to listen." @hutchinson8965dannybrad shared: "Excellent important issue." @claireemumford replied: "What a great idea." @hollyoakemily added: "Absolutely beautiful xx hope I can listen to this."

It comes as Rylan has appeared on another podcast and shared how his divorce 'almost killed him' - and he's glad it happened. The TV and radio star split from husband, ex-MET detective Dan Neal, after six years in 2021, with the news coming out amid a four-month break from the spotlight.

The pair met on Big Brother's Bit on the Side - which Rylan was hosting - in 2015 and they became engaged the following year. The split led to Rylan having a breakdown and being admitted to hospital, as he was "a threat to myself". He recalled how he couldn't fulfil the smallest task, such as making a cup of tea, but slowly rebuilt his life.

Speaking on podcast How to Fail with Elizabeth Day, Rylan said his divorce "pretty much nearly did kill me." He went on to share: "It was really difficult, looking back on it now, it's awful to sit there and say this but I am almost glad it nearly killed me. And I am so thrilled I can say that two years on, because I didn't think I could say that two years on.

"And I won't go into too much detail but it was extremely traumatic and I'm not just being dramatic, it was very much trauma." The former Strictly It Takes Two presenter explained there were "a lot of elements that came into play with the breakdown of my relationship and then how that played out for months after, which is why I got so ill."

Speaking about the impact it had on him, Rylan said: "Because of that trauma and because of that treading down on me, I think it's genuinely for want of a better term made me so much stronger. I would like to think the breakdown of my marriage had made me the person I am now. And I am really happy with the person I am now and I I can sleep very well at night."
