Rylan Clark says Strictly is 'keeping me going' as he plots top secret job for next year

Rylan Clark has revealed that his Strictly Come Dancing gig has been ‘keeping him going’ as he looks ahead to next year.

The 33-year-old TV presenter has endured quite a tough year following the breakdown of his marriage with husband Dan Neal, but Rylan has admitted that his work commitments has kept his mind of the turmoil of his personal life.

While he took a break from work amid the downfall of his marriage, Ryan is very much back on track when it comes to future projects – and he’s got some exciting jobs coming up in the new year.

Lifting the lid on his busy schedule, Rylan told New Magazine: “Strictly is keeping me going and I have been working on quite a few other things too. I’ve got a project coming in January which is completely mine.

“It’s exciting, nerve-racking, and time-consuming. I’m buzzing about it but it’s top secret.”

Rylan’s exciting work project admission comes after the TV star vowed to go out more after admitting that he became a bit of a ‘hermit’ while in lockdown.

When lockdown ended and restrictions eased across the UK, the former X Factor star found himself unbothered about heading out to see friends, and instead, he simply wanted to stay put at home after his breakup from Dan.

Now that things are eventually getting back to normal, the 33-year-old hopes to have more fun outside the house.

"I do need to start going out as I'm a bit of a hermit," he told Closer magazine.

"I love a cosy night in, tracksuit on, lighting a candle with a glass wine, but recently I've got a little bit of an itch to start going out again."

Rylan recently joked about the tumultuous year he's had after pulling out from several professional appearances before it emerged that he was divorcing his husband of six years.

The star took five months off from his BBC Radio 2 show and dropped out of hosting duties for shows including Eurovision earlier this year.

Rylan then went public with his marriage breakdown, admitting to making ‘a number of mistakes’ that sadly led to the demise of his relationship six years later.

"Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel I have to speak out – as the way it is being reported is unfair," he said in a statement.

"I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage."

He went on: "I have taken time away from work as I am not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help.

"I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to thank you to everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time."
