Rylan Clark says it's been a 'long day' after revealing radio break as he's forced to address fans' query

Rylan Clark confessed he'd had a 'long day' after revealing his break from the airwaves. He announced he is taking a break from his show on BBC Radio 2 after it was revealed that he was one of the favourites to take over Phillip Schofield on This Morning after the veteran presenter quit after 20 e.

The TV and radio star, who is no stranger to the ITV daytime show having spent a significant time at the helm and returned last summer for a week-long stint fronting the show with Ruth Langsford, told his listeners on Saturday (May 20) that he won't be on the show for a while.

Rylan, 34, who hosts his own show every Saturday from 3 until 6pm said: "This is where I should say ladies I won't be catching up with you next week. Because I am off to do some other bits and bobs so I'm not going to be here for a fair few weeks."

He added: "I just want to say whoever is looking after this seat for a fair few weeks can you please make sure you look after Couch Potatoes."

On Sunday, after finishing up his show on Saturday afternoon, Rylan was seen chilling in a blue t-shirt and grey Adidas joggers as he posted the mirror selfie on his Instagram Stories with the caption: "long day".

And Rylan was clearly getting responses over what looked like a crystal dumbbell in the photo, but it was actually the reflection from the mirror of the wardrobe handle. He added alongside a close-up selfie while pulling a confused face: "Not a crystal dumbbell. It's a wardrobe knob."

Last week, Rylan fans a glimpse inside his world of dating again almost two years after his marriage split. The former X Factor star and Celebrity Big Brother winner split from his husband, ex-MET detective Dan Neal, after six years in 2021, with the news coming out amid a four-month break from the spotlight.

The pair met on Big Brother's Bit on the Side - which Rylan was hosting - in 2013 after Dan appeared in the 14th series of Big Brother and they became engaged the following year. They then tied the knot in November 2015. But by summer 2021, the marriage was over and the split led to Rylan having a breakdown and being admitted to hospital, as he was "a threat to myself".

He recalled how he couldn't fulfil the smallest task, such as making a cup of tea, but slowly rebuilt his life. And in his book, Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, which was released last year and chronicles his life from finding fame on The X Factor in 2012 up until now, Rylan detailed for the first time the reasons for the end of his marriage.

He admitted he had cheated "years ago" but only told Dan in 2021. He wrote: "I woke up one morning and decided to tell my now ex that I had cheated on him, years ago. I’m not sure why it was that time, or that day I had to do it. But I did." On the reaction, Rylan continued: "He left. Told me it was over and that was that. You’re not surprised? I get that. But I couldn’t believe it."

Since then, Rylan has thrust himself back into work and appears to be back on the dating scene. Taking to Twitter on Wednesday (May 17), the 34-year-old shared a screenshot of the start of a conversation on Hinge.

It appeared to show another user 'liking' the TV and radio star's picture on the dating app. The image showed him topless and soaking up the warm weather in his huge garden at his Essex abode.

After receiving the 'like' Rylan typed a response which read: "Evening mate how's u?" but before getting a response, he sent another message and joked: "Just to get it out of the way. You after my gardener's number?" Sharing the screenshot on Twitter, the former X Factor star said: "Mates- 'why don’t you try hinge…' Me-."

Countryfile host and Strictly Come Dancing 2022 finalist Helen Skelton was among those who responded to the brilliantly relatable post, writing: "Is it sad I really like the lawn in this pic." Fans, meanwhile were in hysterics after seeing the exchange.
