Rylan Clark-Neal surviving on nothing but McDonald's as he juggles busy career

Strictly's Rylan Clark-Neal is having to survive on Big Macs while he juggles all his telly jobs.

The Supermarket Sweep host has no time to get down to the shops himself, so admits he is stuffing his face with fast food.

Rylan, 31, said: “My diet is terrible – McDonald’s – I’ll probably collapse at one point but I am all right at the moment.

“I don’t work out, I haven’t got time. I’ve a gym at home and I’ve been in once for a Lucozade. It’s embarrassing.”

And he says he’s never quite sure if he’s heading to the studios for Supermarket Sweep, Ready Steady Cook or It Takes Two.

“But I won’t burn out, I charge up at night, I’m fine,” he insisted.

“I get in the car and think I am going somewhere and turn up somewhere else, then I have to put on my Supermarket Sweep hat or Strictly hat or Ready Steady Cook hat. There’s a lot of hats.”

He praises his “down to earth” husband Dan, a former policeman, for keeping him “sane in this crazy world”, adding: “I’m glad I’m not out there on Tinder. It’s one thing less to worry about.”

But Dan, 40, is also his fiercest critic.

“It’s what I need,” Rylan admitted. “He brings me down to earth. We’re both very honest with each other.”

Rylan Clark-Neal also co-hosts Strictly Come Dancing's It Takes Two show (BBC)

They met in 2013, when Dan was a housemate on Big Brother and Rylan interviewed him on Little Bit On The Side.

They wed at a glitzy Essex wedding in 2015 – but he likes to keeps their relationship private so when he comes through the door he’s “just normal”.

Rylan is stepdad to Dan’s 19-year-old son Cameron, and has not ruled out becoming a dad himself.

But for now, it’s all about his super-sized career – and making his fans smile.

“I’d never be rude to anyone however tired I am. I remember my journey and if it wasn’t for the public I wouldn’t be here now.”

■ It Takes Two is on BBC2, 6.30pm Monday-Thursday and 6pm Friday
