Rylan Clark-Neal 'set to divorce husband' after battle to save marriage fails

Rylan Clark-Neal is set to divorce his husband Dan after the pair failed to save their marriage.

The TV and radio presenter has been married to the former policeman for six years, but the couple now appear to be ending their relationship.

32-year-old Rylan took a step back from his BBC Radio 2 show earlier this year for four months as the pair faced difficulties, reports The Mirror.

Now, friends of the star, who shot to fame after appearing on ITV's The X Factor, have said the marriage is "unsalvageable" following weeks of the pair attempting to "work through their problems".

Speculation that the couple were struggling grew after the presenter's absence from his show, as well as missing hosting duties for May's Eurovision Song Contest.

In June, he confronted the rumours and said: "Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel I have to speak out as the way it is being reported is unfair.

"I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage."

And now sources have told The Mail on Sunday how the couple had tried to work through their differences at their marital home after Rylan had spent long periods throughout the summer with his mum, Linda.

"Things were looking so good, like they were back together," said one source. "They hoped they could avoid divorce, but it’s now looking like the only way forward.

"Many around them were desperately hoping they can win the battle to save their relationship. It’s very sad."

Following Rylan's return to his Rylan On Saturday show three weeks ago, the personality told his avid listeners: "I am feeling better."

Rylan and Dan met in 2013 before getting engaged on a trip to Paris.

They tied the knot at Braxted Park in Essex in 2015 in front of a host of celeb guests, including Rylan's This Morning co-stars Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.

Rylan and Dan became the first gay couple to present This Morning when the pair stepped in to cover Eamonn and Ruth on a show in July 2016.

On Saturday, the presenter made a joke about the current petrol "drought" on Twitter.

He posted to his 1.6 million followers: "I’ve been through enough this year. Really don’t need this petrol drought to make a sly trip to the M&S garage at midnight in a dressing gown taken away from me tbh."
