Rylan Clark-Neal reveals new Strictly Come Dancing role

Rylan Clark-Neal may have found fame on ITV's The X Factor but now he is set to cross channels and the mic for something a bit more sparkly.

The former Big Brother's Bit On The Side presenter has revealed that he will join Zoe Ball as co-host on Strictly Come Dancing's It Takes Two when it returns later this year.

It Takes Two is the spin-off the the popular dancing programme which airs on BBC2 every week night during the series.

Describing his new job as "a dream" the 30-year-old said in a statement: "I can't begin to explain how excited I am to be joining the Strictly family.

Rylan will team up with Zoe Ball on Strictly Come Dancing It Takes Two (BBC)

"I've always been a massive fan of It Takes Two and to be working with the amazing Zoe Ball is a dream.

"I'm extremely honoured to be joining such a television institution and can't wait to bring a lot of mischief to the Strictly bubble. I'm looking forward to getting started and seeing you all soon."

Rylan also added on Twitter that he was "thrilled" to be joining the sister show.

Telling his 1.5 million followers, he said: "So excited to finally say i’m thrilled to be joining Team #bbcstrictly and can’t wait to get my big old teeth stuck into hosting #ItTakesTwo alongside the gorgeous @ZoeTheBall.

"Thanks for trusting me with another one of your babies! Can’t wait to get going! #DaDaDaDaDaDaDaaaaaa."

BBC Radio Two Breakfast host Zoe Ball, who has fronted the show solo since 2011, has also tweeted her excitement at the prospect of a new TV double act.

She said: "Ant and Dec, Holly and Phil, Keith and Orville... now there’s Rylan & Ball. Is the world ready for this pairing?? Welcome to the strictly ITT fam baby. Excited.

"Thanks for all the love and reaction to the news this morning tweeples. Off for an emergency dentist deep clean...."

The new line up is part of a wider shake-up after Dame Darcey Bussell announced her departure from the Strictly judging panel earlier this month.

Her her replacement has not yet named but professional dancer and long-serving Strictly star Anton Du Beke has been rumoured to be taking the hot seat.
