Rylan Clark-Neal heckled on Strictly It Takes Two after 'nasty' comment to David James

Rylan Clark-Neal was heckled on tonight's It Takes Two after a 'nasty' comment to Strictly Come Dancing star David James.

The presenter held no punches when he discussed some of the brutal criticism from the judges for his Paso Doble at the weekend.

The former England goalkeeper looked awkward as Rylan repeated Craig Revel Horwood's cruel "limp, lifeless and lacklustre" line.

Rylan then went even further by revealing that David and pro partner Nadiya Bychkova's score of 10 broke records for all the wrong reasons.

The ITT host said: "you know It Takes Two likes a stat on this show. 10 was the lowest score of the night. But it was also the lowest score ever on Strictly for a Paso Doble."

An angry audience member then shouted at Rylan from across the studio during the awkward moment.

"I don't know why. They just make me do it," snapped back Rylan as he turned to the side.

Hitting back at the scores, David said: "The judges, these guys have been at the top for her field, as a learner dancer if someone is going to criticise you you want to know what the problem is.

"I didn't even realise Shirley had said something good. In regards to 'limp, lifeless, lacklustre', it's a bit cliche and not constructive."

It Takes Two viewers took to Twitter to criticise Rylan for some of his questions.

One viewer sarcastically said: "Rylan doing a great job of making David and Nadiya feel good"

"I like Rylan but he does need to be a little kinder in his questions and comments he uses," added another.

A third said: "I'm sorry interviews with rylan seem so stilted and awkward. Why do so many people like him on this?"

The football pundit also hit back at Bruno Toniolli for claiming he had seen better shaping on an aircraft safety demonstration.

David said: "I didn't know what he was referring to. That was the point. If it was a specific part of the move. The mark wasn't reflective of our dance in our opinion.

He joked that he had always wanted a 10 on Strictly, but added: "I just wanted it from one judge not four."

David had a nightmare with the cape (BBC)

David also revealed that he had used that cape for the first time during the actual performance.

"It was such a weird night," said David. "I felt right, felt good. The cape bit didn't come off the way we rehearsed it.

"Actually I wanted to go topless. I just loved it."

*It Takes Two airs weekdays on BBC One at 5.15pm
