Rylan Clark-Neal admits he was 'worried' to ring Ainsley Harriott over Ready Steady Cook

Rylan Clark-Neal appeared on This Morning to speak about his new presenting gig - being the host of Ready Steady Cook.

Speaking about the show's revival, Rylan, 31, told Holly and Phil he had been concerned about the reaction of former host, Ainsley Harriott.

He said: "I was a little bit worried to ring Ainsley."

He went on to say his worries came about because Ainsley was so closely associated with the long-running cookery show after presenting it for 10 years.

Sharing Ainsley's reaction, Rylan said: "He was so lovely, he went, 'go and make it your own - put you into it'."

Talking in more detail about the show, Rylan said the famous plastic bags have been replaced with sustainable bags for life in a bid to be more environmentally friendly.

Rylan added: "Our goal is to be the most sustainable show on television."

He also said the budgets on the new series haven't changed since the show last aired 10 years ago.

The original series began in 1994 and was hosted by Fern Britton until 2000, when Ainsley took over presenting duties.

Rylan said he also called to speak with Fern when he was confirmed as the new host of the show and said she'd been very supportive.

The first episode of the new series airs today, Monday March 2, at 4.30pm on BBC One.
