Ryder Cup Team Europe 2025: All 12 Players Confirmed For Bethpage Black

The European Ryder Cup team at Marco Simone .

Europe face arguably their toughest test in Ryder Cup history heading to Bethpage Black in New York in a bid for a rare away win.

Luke Donald returns as captain, and he'll be bringing back almost all of his victorious 12 from Rome in 2023.

Not surprisingly, Donald opted for continuity following Team Europe's big win over the US at Marco Simone two years ago as he plots the defence of the title on US soil.

Vast experience can be found almost everywhere in the team, while there is just one rookie tasked with the job of helping the Europeans win the match in the US for the first time since Medinah in 2012.

Here are all the details of the players in the Team Europe line-up...

Rory McIlroy

Despite a drop off from his best form in recent months, Rory McIlroy goes into the Ryder Cup off the back of a memorable year, with wins at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Players Championship dwarfed by the completion of his career Grand Slam at The Masters.

Has he struggled for motivation at times since that monumental Sunday at Augusta National? The man himself has admitted as much, but it would be hard to see how a player as passionate as McIlroy won't be firing on all cylinders at Bethpage Black.

This will be his eighth Ryder Cup, and helping the Europeans win the match on US soil would surely be the cherry on the cake of a truly historic year for McIlroy.

Robert MacIntyre

For the second successive edition, MacIntyre qualified for the team automatically. However, while he was a rookie at Marco Simone, he brings more US-based experience to the team two years on.

Since helping the Europeans to victory in Italy, MacIntyre has established himself on the PGA Tour, with a couple of wins along the way, while his recent form, which included runner-up at the BMW Championship, has been encouraging.

He'll be a key man this time around as the team tries to win in the US for the first time since 2012.

Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood holed the winning putt at Marco Simone two years ago as the Europeans cruised to a 16.5-11.5 win.

Back then, he was a captain's pick, but thanks to some stunning PGA Tour form he did it automatically this time around.

Much had been made of Fleetwood's inability to win on the PGA Tour despite several close calls in recent years, but he got that monkey off his back emphatically at the Tour Championship, and heads to Bethpage Black in some of the best form of his career.

Record: 7-3-2

Justin Rose

Justin Rose is tipped to captain the European Ryder Cup team at some point, but he proved at the FedEx St. Jude Championship that he still has plenty to offer as a player when he wrapped up his 12th PGA Tour victory.

As well as strong recent form, Rose's vast experience will be key at Bethpage Black in what is sure to be a hostile atmosphere.

Rose has played in six editions of the Ryder Cup, winning four. He will surely be an instrumental figure if that is to become five from seven.

Record: 14-9-3

Wins: 4

Rasmus Hojgaard

Rasmus Hojgaard and his brother Nicolai have expressed an ambition to play in a Ryder Cup together, but that will have to wait after Rasmus qualified automatically, but Nicolai, who was a 2023 wildcard pick, missed out.

Rasmus booked his place with a T13 at the last of the qualifying events, the Betfred British Masters. As a result, he is the only rookie on the team.

What he lacks in Ryder Cup experience he will surely make up for in ability, as evidenced by five DP World Tour wins in his career so far.

Tyrrell Hatton

During the year-long qualifying period, LIV Golfer Hatton earned some stunning results, including victory in the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and this year's Dubai Desert Classic.

More recently, he placed T4 at the US Open to book his spot on the 2025 team automatically.

That means he's preparing for his fourth Ryder Cup appearance, where he will be looking for his third win.

Record: 5-4-2

Wins: 2

Shane Lowry

Lowry very nearly qualified automatically, only to be pipped at the last qualifying event by Rasmus Hojgaard, so it was no surprise when he was the first of Luke Donald's wildcard picks.

The Irishman brings valuable experience to the team, having played in two previous matches, including two years ago at Marco Simone.

As his position of seventh in the team rankings suggests, he has been in good form recently too, and has two runner-up placings on the PGA Tour this season.

Record: 2-3-1

Wins: 1

Jon Rahm

Jon Rahm is a talismanic figure for the European team (Image credit: Getty Images)

While Rahm's Legion XIII teammate Hatton made the team automatically, there was never any doubt that the Spaniard would join him as a wildcard.

Rahm has recently completed his second successive Individual Championship win with LIV Golf, while he is a talismanic member of the Ryder Cup team, with three previous appearances, of which he has been on the winning team twice.

Meanwhile, he won three of his four matches at Marco Simone.

Along with McIlroy, Rahm is the biggest name in the team and much will rest on his form as to whether the Europeans can retain the title.

Record: 6-3-3

Wins: 2

Sepp Straka

It's been a hugely satisfying season for the Austrian, with two PGA Tour wins the highlights as he sits 13th in the world rankings having at one point climbed to a career high of seventh.

Therefore, it wasn't a surprise when Donald picked him as a wildcard, particularly as he also played in the match at Marco Simone.

Record: 1-2-0

Wins: 1

Viktor Hovland

Hovland is preparing for his third appearance in the Ryder Cup having been named as Donald's fourth wildcard pick.

There's little doubt he deserves it, having emerged from a tricky run of form to win on the PGA Tour for the seventh time at the Valspar Championship.

Further confirmation that the Norwegian was returning to his best came with third at the US Open, while his famously happy-go-lucky personality will be sure to give his teammates a lift if things get tough at Bethpage Black.

Appearances: 2

Record: 3-4-3

Wins: 1

Ludvig Aberg

When Ludvig Aberg was chosen for his Ryder Cup debut in 2023, he was only three months into his professional career, with Donald declaring him a "generational talent."

That was soon in evidence during the match, not least in his and Viktor Hovland's 9&7 demolition job on Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka in the Saturday morning foursomes.

Two years on, Aberg has two PGA Tour wins under his belt, including the Genesis Invitational, as he continues to establish himself as one of the game's most talented players.

Record: 2-2-0

Wins: 1

Matt Fitzpatrick

Matt Fitzpatrick hasn't always had it easy in his three previous Ryder Cup appearances, and only won his first match at the 2023 edition, but there's no denying he brings quality and experience to the table.

The 2022 US Open champion had been in a poor run of form throughout much of the qualifying period, but he has put that firmly behind him in recent months with a string of top-10 finishes.

Appearances: 3

Record: 1-7-0

Wins: 1
