Ryder Cup caddie raises more than £4000 for foodbank charities following big hearted raffle

A big-hearted caddie has raised thousands for good causes after putting rare golfing gear up for grabs.

Prestwick lad Mark Crane, 37, held a raffle of items from the Ryder Cup of 2018, where he carried the bag of European team rookie Tyrrell Hatton.

Included was Crane’s official caddie bib, a signed team flag, Europe t-shirt and Henrik Stenson sunglasses.

The fundraiser amassed £4,320 for foodbanks in South, East and North Ayrshire.

Crane’s daughter, Eva, plucked the lucky winners from the hat during a live Facebook draw on Sunday night.

Mark, who runs the popular Bar Central in Prestwick Main Street, told the Ayrshire Post: “It’s easy to take things for granted in life but times like these make you realise what’s important.

“I set a target of £2000 so I’m delighted with the response.”
