Ryder Cup caddie raffles off Team Europe memorabilia in bid to help foodbanks during coronavirus crisis

A big-hearted caddie is putting some of his most unique golfing memorabilia up for grabs in aid of a good cause.

Mark Crane will raffle off two rare items from the Ryder Cup of 2018, which was won by Team Europe at Le Golf National in France.

Prestwick lad Mark, 37, caddied for team rookie Tyrrell Hatton during the big event and is giving away his official bib to the lucky winner.

Also on offer is an Team Europe flag signed by members of the winning team.

Mark, who runs the popular Bar Central in Prestwick, has already pulled in more than £2,000 since launching his fundraiser on Tuesday night.

All monies raised will be split three ways between foodbanks in South, East and North Ayrshire as the coronavirus crisis continues to hit hard.

Mark told the Ayrshire Post: "It's easy to take things for granted in life but times like these make you realise what's important.

"I'd heard one particular story on the news that stuck with me about a mum struggling to feed her kids.

"When you think that for some kids, the best meal of the day is the one they get at school, these current times make things particularly hard.

"That's why the work done by the foodbanks is so vital and it's why I wanted to do something to support their efforts."

Mark, who originally set a target of £2000, has been blown away by the early response.

Tickets to the raffle are being sold through his Facebook page at £10 a time.

And a special guest will be drawing the winners from the hat live on Sunday night.

He revealed: "We'll be getting my daughter Eva to do the draw and going live on Facebook, so it should be pretty cool.

"It's a nice chance for people to own some authentic Ryder Cup items and at the same time we can hopefully raise a good bit of money."
