Ryder Cup broadcast hilariously trolls Florida State football: ‘First win of the year for Florida State’

To say things haven’t gone well for Florida State football so far this season would be an understatement. The team is 0-3 to start its schedule, and it was dealt another loss on Friday thanks to the spectacular Ryder Cup commentary.

Paired up for the tournament’s opening session with Team USA going against Team Europe at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin, Brooks Koepka and Daniel Berger had a strong start. The two Americans (and former Florida State players) defeated Europe’s Lee Westwood and Matt Fitzpatrick, 2 and 1.

And then Golf Channel broadcaster Paul Azinger — another Florida State alum — took a hilarious shot at the failing football team after Koepka’s final putt:

“First win of the year for Florida State.”

Ouch. But if you can’t have fun and laugh at your own team, what’s the point?

Stream live college football games every week this season from conferences across the country on ESPN+.

To open its college football season, Florida State lost what looked like a very winnable game against Notre Dame before falling to Jacksonville State and Wake Forest. Not ideal, and it takes on Louisville on Saturday.

But hey, at least the school has Koepka and Berger making it look better.
