Ryder Cup 2026 set to be held at Adare Manor in Limerick

Golf's Ryder Cup is coming back to Ireland in 2026.

Adare Manor in Limerick is about to be announced as having won the contest to stage one of the biggest sporting events in the world in just seven years' time.

The news is expected to be formally announced after a special Cabinet meeting in Glencolmcille, Donegal, this afternoon.

It will then be formally announced by official hosts, the European Tour.

The breaking news comes just days after Irish golfer Shane Lowry won one of the biggest individual prizes in golf, The Open, in Royal Portrush last weekend.

Celebrations with the Claret Jug trophy are still ongoing in Lowry's hometown, Clara, today.

Minister for Sport, Shane Ross, will bring a memo to Cabinet today seeking the formal go-ahead from government.

They will unanimously approve the proposal.

The Government will provide funding and infrastructure for the region.

But the costs of hosting the event at Adare will be borne entirely by Adare Manor and owner JP McManus.
