Welcome to the Ryder Cup 2025!

It’s been a long two years, but finally, the 2025 Ryder Cup is here — live from Bethpage Black.
Luke Donald (Team Europe) and Keegan Bradley (Team USA) have assembled their all-star teams, with the likes of Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Bryson DeChambeau all featuring in this perennial event.
Can Team Europe upset the odds, or will it be another home win for the USA? Tune in to find out.
How does The Ryder Cup work?

Not everyone tuning in will be familiar with the format of the Ryder Cup, as it is very different from any other golfing event.
The format is match play, with foursomes (alternate shot) and fourballs (better ball) across Friday and Saturday. This sees two players from Team USA take on two from Team Europe, and whoever comes out on top after 18 holes earns a point for their team.
On Sunday, we move on to singles match play, where all 12 players from each side take on an opponent, with a point available for each match.
The first team to reach 14½ points secures the Ryder Cup.
What is the schedule for Friday?

Who won the 2023 Ryder Cup?
As ever, the team hosting the Ryder Cup has a significant advantage, and two years ago in Italy, it was Team Europe who walked away with the trophy.
Led by Luke Donald, it was a stunning Friday and Saturday that did the business for Team Europe as they won 16½ to 11½.
Catch highlights from two years ago in the short package above.

The Iconic Bethpage Black

Bethpage Black, New York, is one of the most legendary courses in America and is the ideal venue for the 2025 Ryder Cup.
If the warning sign isn’t enough to scare you, then the long rough, narrow fairways, and extended distances surely will. The course rating sits around 78, with a slope of 155 in its most demanding setup if you needed any more emphasis.
Who will it suit? Well, Bryson DeChambeau will, of course, enjoy the opportunity for long drives, but you'd be hard-pushed to say that the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm won’t thrive here as well.
Set those alarms — 45 minutes until the Ryder Cup gets underway
We are almost there! In just under an hour Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas will tee off in their match against Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton at 7:10 a.m. / 12:10 p.m..
Remember. Use NordVPN to access your Sky Sports (U.K.) or USA Network via Sling (US) streams for the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Both Europe and USA putting for birdie
On second look, Rahm's tee shot really wasn't bad. And Tyrell Hatton makes the most of a nice lie as he chips it onto the green despite a slight chunk.
Justin Thomas goes one better and gets it just inside Hatton's shot.
Team USA take the first hole
Rahm leaves his putt just short, but Bryson makes no mistake as he sinks it to put USA 1 up.
The American fans erupt — just the start they would have dreamed of this morning.
Next to the 1st tee: Scottie Scheffler / Russell Henley vs Ludvig Åberg / Matt Fitzpatrick
The next set of pairs tee off and it is a lovely drive from Ludvig Åberg just short of the green.
Russell Henley decides to lay up and despite being in the rough it looks a good enough lie for world number 1, Scottie Scheffler to get to the green.
Europe hit back
The opening foursome ties the second hole after Justin Thomas narrowly misses a short-range putt.
Meanwhile, over at the first, a sublime approach from Matt Fitzpatrick sets up a tap-in for Ludvig Åberg, giving Europe the early lead in that pairing as Team USA fails to convert.

Tommy Fleetwood — Take a bow!
Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy, arguably Europe's best pairing take the 1st hole in their foursome.
Despite having a tough lie in the rough, Fleetwood puts his chip within 3ft leaving a simple putt for McIlroy.

Rahm & Hatton applying pressure
Having dominated most of the early holes, JT and DeChambeau will be surprised that they are 1DOWN thru eight.
But, Rahm and Hatton have just managed to apply the clutch shots when necessary.
Europe silencing the New York crowd

It has to be said that Luke Donald couldn't have wished for a much better start. Three of his pairs are up and the cheers for Team Europe are getting louder.

Collin Morikawa — WOW
Stunning shot from Morikawa as he sticks it 2 feet from the pin on what was an incredibly difficult shot on hole 9.
Fleetwood follows that up, though, with an equally marvellous shot, leaving McIlroy with a 3-foot putt.
The red has been eliminated from the leaderboard!
Europe will be licking their lips. Patrick Cantlay had a simple putt to level the hole, but he misses and Hovland and MacIntyre take the hole.
It's all level in the final foursome.
USA needed that!
Xander is back! Red is back on the board!
Xander nails his putt on hole 8, and Team USA are back in front.
While Europe are comfortably ahead in games two and three, games one and four are still in the balance.

Make that 3!

Europe are running away with this opening day as Rahm and Hatton go 3UP in the opening foursome.
Schauffele and Cantlay are now 2UP in the final match-up though.
Perfect start for Europe
It looks like it is going to end up 3-1 to Europe after Friday's foursomes. They have all dealt with the pressure brilliantly and the crowd have largely been silenced, here's the current scores for you:
3 UP — Jon Rahm / Tyrrell Hatton (Thru 14) vs. Bryson DeChambeau / Justin Thomas
4 UP — Ludvig Åberg / Matt Fitzpatrick (Thru 13) vs. Scottie Scheffler / Russell Henley
5 UP — Rory McIlroy / Tommy Fleetwood (Thru 12) vs. Collin Morikawa / Harris English
2 UP — Xander Schauffele / Patrick Cantlay (Thru 10) vs. Robert MacIntyre / Viktor Hovland
Schauffele and Cantlay go 3UP
That final game looks like it is heading the way of the Americans now as sloppy putts from MacIntyre then Hovland cost Europe.
Rahm & Hatton send Europe 1-0 UP
JT misses his putt, giving Rahm and Hatton the 15th hole. That wins them the hole and puts Europe 1–0 up in the Ryder Cup.
Europe go 2-0 up

And back on the 14th McIlroy and Fleetwood make it 2-0 to Europe. A simple 3ft putt for Fleetwood up the hill to secure it!
Quick Stat: McIlroy and Fleetwood have now won all three of their foursomes games they have played together!

Europe 3-0 USA
Three matches in the bag for Europe as Fitzpatrick nails a difficult downhill putt to secure the hole.
All eyes now turn to the final match with the Americans now 2UP.
Two in a row for MacIntyre & Hovland
Europe's final pair are fighting. A delightful approach shot from MacIntyre leaves Hovland a simple putt and he makes it with ease.
So much pressure on Xander and Patrick to hold onto this lead.
Remember. Use NordVPN to unlock your usual Ryder Cup streams.
Schauffele under pressure
A snap hook from Xander Schauffele sees his ball head into the hospitality on the 15th and the pressure is now on Patrick Cantlay to get his side back within a chance.

Hovland levels it up!
A crucial putt missed by Cantlay, and Europe take advantage as Hovland nails his putt to level this final game up.
What a comeback from the European pair.
Onto the 17th we go...
Both MacIntyre and Cantlay miss their putts, meaning this final foursome is heading to the 17th hole all square.
USA's final pairing back into the lead
A wayward tee shot from MacIntyre costs Europe that hole and USA take advantage to move back to 1UP.
Can they hold onto it going down the 18th.
USA are on the board

A strong fight back from Europe in that game, but Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay hold firm and secure a point to bring it back to 3-1.
Boy did they need that.

Fleetwood and Rose hit the front
Brilliant from the English pair as they lead for the first time in their game against Ben Griffin and Bryson DeChambeau.
USA hit back!
Brilliant from Patrick Cantlay as he birdies the 13th to level the game as McIlory and Lowry miss their putts.
Cantlay then sticks it next to the pin on the 14th. It's going to have to be a good putt from either McIlroy or Lowry to half this hole.
Lip out for Cantlay!
Despite his brilliant tee shot, Patrick Cantlay misses his short putt — poor stuff from the 33-year-old.
USA 2-4 Europe

Sepp Straka admitted in his post-round interview that Jon Rahm had carried him through this afternoon’s fourball.
The Spaniard has undoubtedly been one of the standout performers on the opening day, having defeated both Bryson DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler across his two matches.

Where to watch the Ryder Cup for FREE
Arguably the biggest match today is Henley/Scheffler v Hovland/MacIntyre (12:58) – Hovland and MacIntyre were the only Europeans not to win their foursomes and today, they're up against the World No. 1 Scheffler (0-3-2 in his last five Ryder Cup matches).
The good news is that it's currently the featured match on the RyderCup.com live stream.
The stream is completely FREE to watch in America. If you're traveling outside the States, you'll need a VPN to unblock the stream. NordVPN works best for this.
ANNOYING Ryder Cup ad breaks: get rid of them?
The ad breaks are relentless! If I hear Apple telling me one more time that the iPhone 17 is the "most powerful iPhone ever" (well, yeah, it's also the most expensive iPhone ever!) I will do a John Daley throw my club into Lake Michigan.
Ryder Cup fans are raging about the number of ad breaks on social media (per Golf Monthly), and asking how to delete the neverending cycle of Rolex/iPhone/Mercedes ads.
The answer? Watch the Ryder Cup ad-free with Peacock Premium Plus (U.S. only).
This offers those in the United States an ad-free option for the golf. There's no such option in the U.K., though, or indeed anywhere else (don't worry, I've checked with ChatGPT.
OUTSIDE THE U.S.? If you're traveling outside the States you can watch Peacock from anywhere with NordVPN. Sign up now, then get Peacock, then enjoy the Ryder Cup 2025 ad-free experience.
It's worth every penny if you ask me.
Mcllroy and Fleetwood extend the gap to 3
The combination of Mcllory and Fleetwood go three up thanks to an extraordinary putt from Fleetwood that gave the European team the half.

USA's only hope?

DeChambeau and Young go 2 up on Fitzpatrick and Aberg thanks to a huge putt from Bryson but the American's still can't shake off the European duo as they're still very much in this.
Who are this year's broadcasters?
This years rendition of the Ryder Cup is primarily being broadcast in the US on NBC Sports witch coverage split between NBC, USA Network, Golf Channel with streaming available on Peacock.
In the UK and Ireland, Sky Sports Golf holds the exclusive rights to the Ryder Cup with the BBC producing a free highlights package.
Not at home for day 2 of the Ryder Cup? No need to panic, you can still catch all the action using NordVPN from anywhere in the world.

Who has the biggest audience for this year's Ryder Cup?
USA:
In the States, NBC Sports draws the largest audience, flexing their massive US market reach and multi-platform distribution. There is over 100 hours of live coverage across NBC, USA and Peacock which draw peak viewership with Ryder Cup finals exceeding over 5 million US viewers.
UK:
Across the pond, the UK's viewership is predominantly hosted by Sky Sports, who trail in viewership numbers to the US but have a monopoly on the European market with their uninterrupted streams pulling in 2-3 million UK viewers per session thanks to the lack of ads interrupting footage.
As well as Sky Sports, UK viewers have the option to watch the BBC highlights package for free, with 1-2 million golf fans choosing to opt for this method due to the fact it doesn't cost a penny.
Outside the US or UK right now? You can use a VPN to access your regular streaming services like Peacock or BBC iPlayer from anywhere in the world. NordVPN is the VPN you can trust to reliably unblock your stream, offering super fast speeds and excellent security so you can watch the golf with no hassle this year.
The World Number one is clawing it back

After a poor attempt from MacIntyre, it gave the US the opportunity to capitalise and gain a hole back.
Team Europe will be slightly nervous about letting that one slip so needlessly as the last thing you want to do is give the world number 1 a sniff of a comeback.
Still looking for a place to watch the match? Fans in the US can catch this game for FREE on RyderCup.com.
Outside the states right now? Use a VPN to access your account and watch all the action in the match for FREE on RyderCup.com.
A SLIP UP BY MCILROY!

Rory has only gone and missed it to give the US a hole back. It was their first bogey of the morning and English and Morikawa now have a sense of belief as they claw a hole back in what seemed to be a guaranteed win from the Europeans.
USA GET THE WIN!
It's the USA who get the first win of the day! DeChambeau and Young prove to be an excellent pairing as they get the job done against Aberg and Fitzpatrick. Aberg's form in the match left a lot to be desired and will likely be rested in this afternoon's fourballs.

The USA are fighting there way back!
McIlroy once again fails to wrap the game up as English and Morikawa take another hole off of the European's. Harris English got the job done with a 17-footer which will start to make McIlroy and Fleetwood sweat a bit. Perhaps the heckler McIlroy encountered a few days ago was right about his choking...
All still to play for.

MCILROY AND FLEETWOOD GET OVER THE LINE!

With nerves starting to creep in after losing the previous two holes, the Northern Irishman hit a brilliant approach to give Fleetwood the chance to finish things with a bogey. It's points on the board for Europe as things heat up on day 2.

EUROPE GO 2-1 UP ON THE DAY!

Match 3 is claimed by Hatton and Rahm after a composed putt from Hatton. A very evenly matched game that could've swung either way but in the end it's Europe who claim the win in a 3&2 match.
Who has the best coverage of the Ryder Cup 2025?
The standout platform for the best coverage has to be Peacock. Their comprehensive footage offers minimal advertisement so fans can enjoy as much of the action as possible. Peacock offer 4k streaming options via their Premium Plus package ($16.99/month) and this year are using more cameras and drones than any prior US Ryder Cup as well as Trackman tech at every tee, offering fans an immersive experience.
Over in Europe, Sky Sports offers superior coverage of the Ryder Cup this year. Sky Sports gives fans minimal interruptions with ads running every 30+ minutes. They also offer multi-angle feeds which show every shot from the 8 balls in play with clear coverage. This is a bonus as alternative coverage such as NBC/USA tends to lag due to excessive ads with fans missing shots.
Want to watch the best quality streams of the Ryder Cup this year? Well, if you're away from home and don't have access to the best quality footage, you can rely on NordVPN to reliably unlock your stream and watch all the action on day 2.
EUROPE WIN AGAIN!

In an incredibly tight match against the world number 1, Europe's duo of MacIntyre and Hovland pull off a remarkable win to make it 3/4 wins for Europe in this morning's foursomes.
MacIntyre finished off what was a close game with a 20 footer to the hole to complete an epic win for Europe as the celebrations begin!
SCORES ON THE BOARD
In this morning's foursome's, Europe won 3 out of the four games putting them in the lead with 8 1/2 points to USA's 3 1/2. An impressive display from Europe edges them closer to their first win since 2012 in the USA.

EUROPE GAIN ANOTHER ADVANTAGE!
Unsurprisingly, Europe's dominance is proving too much for the USA right now and it's really showing. This time it's Rahm and Straka who go 1 up over Spaun and Schauffele in the second hole.
THE US SHOW RESISTANCE
It's the dream team for the USA in Scheffler and DeChambeu who claw it back to a tie after a kick in eagle from DeChambeau sees them win the hole. DeChambeau is proving to be the saving grace for the US at the minute, but will it be enough?
IT'S LOWRY'S WORLD AND WE'RE ALL LIVING IN IT

The duo of Lowry and McIlroy go 2UP against Thomas and Young to put them in a comfortable position this afternoon. The Irishman hit it home and let off a huge roaring celebration, shouting 'get in!' as he wins the hole. He's pumped up for this one.
THE US TAKE A LEAD!
It's the man of the moment for the US as DeChambeau putts it home for the US to go 1UP into the fifth against Fleetwood and Rose. Tommy Fleetwood just couldn't hit his drop after such an impressive display this morning.

McIlroy refusing to putt due to crowd antics!
McIlroy refused to put due to the crowd getting a little to involved in proceedings. Police have come to deescalate the situation but it's far from an ideal situation for the Northern Irishman.

As it stands...
It's almost too close to call in this afternoon's fourballs with Europe narrowly ahead at the moment with McIlroy and Lowry 1 UP over Thomas and Young, with all the other matches tied.
Residents of the UK can watch the drama unfold on Sky Sports.

Europe snatch it back!
Unbelievable stuff from Justin Rose to get his sixth birdie in eight holes and he absolutely walks in that! Scheffler and DeChambeau, it's just not your day lads...
Thomas and Young bring it back to a tie!
It's impossible to say that the commotion in the crowd hasn't got into the heads of McIlroy and Lowry but Thomas and Young take full advantage. Thomas stroked it home for a birdie, leaving Lowry with a little bit of work to do from six feet out but he couldn't get it done and the US pull it back to a tie.
1 step forward, 2 steps back.
It seems that every time that the US manage to claw themselves back into this, they're hit with another blow. This time it's Straka who nails a birdie on seven. Schauffele needed to hit a 15-footer to force the half and when he fell short, Straka stroked it home.

What are the fans saying about the footage?
Surfing through social media platforms today, we were able to find fan's reactions to some of the streaming quality on show today and they're far from impressed...
Some fans describe the footage as a 'disaster' with multiple reports of audio desyncing, missing key shots due to ads and just an overload of breaks for advertisement.
Here are just some of the things fans online have to say...
I don’t know if I ever seen worse tv coverage for a sporting event than this Ryder Cup. Actually atrociousSeptember 27, 2025
Hey @USANetwork you guys should be embarrassed. Not making enough money all year long that you have to gut the @rydercup coverage? Been absolutely heinous so far. Between the audio lag and the commercials it’s borderline torturous #RyderCup2025September 26, 2025
Is this coverage by nbc of the #RyderCup the worst sports coverage ever? Just an unbearable amount of commercials and feels like they’ll ignore a group for holes at a timeSeptember 27, 2025

Europe go 2UP in match 2
An unbelievable chip attempt from Scheffler is so unlucky not to go in as it caught the edge. All the pressure falls onto his teammate who misses by half an inch to put the US down to 2 going into the 10th.
RAHM AND STRAKA 2UP
The European duo go two up after Rahm hits seven feet on the ninth to get his birdie with their American rivals unable to respond at all at this point. As it stands, Europe lead in two games (game 2/game 3).
IS IT ALL OVER FOR THE US?
Another blow for the US as Hatton and Fitzpatrick take the lead in a stunning outing against Burns and Cantlay. Europe now lead in 3 out of the 4 games this afternoon and are showing no signs of slowing down.
Remember- Use NordVPN to access all your regular streaming sites so you don't miss a single minute of the action.
PGA release statement on fan behaviour
The fans in Long Island today haven't done much for their reputation, especially with their antics and chants towards McIlroy which has now led to the governing body of golf in America releasing the following statement.
"We have added security and State Police to Match No.1 as well as the other three matches in today’s afternoon fourballs," it read.
"Additionally, the frequency of fan behaviour messaging on video boards across the golf course has increased. We will continue to closely monitor fan behaviour and take appropriate action."
Let the golf do the talking
Chants from the American fans calling Justin Rose 'Grandpa' quickly backfired as he hit his six-iron within Fleetwood's.

How the boards are looking...

IT'S ALL EUROPE

The US know that they need something from today and they're trying to push hard but they're just no match for Europe right now. It's McIlroy who gets the tie moving as he putts it home to put himself and Lowry 1UP.
The Northern Irishman couldn't supress his emotion as he putt that one, letting it all out on what has been a challenging day for him.
Away from home for the final stretch of day 2? Use a VPN to access your streaming accounts from across the globe.
Fleetwood and Rose go 3UP
It's Rose who put away a 16-footer for a two to put the pressure on Scheffler. Scheffler couldn't get the putt he wanted and went wide to give Europe a 3UP advantage going into the 15th.
IT'S GETTING EMOTIONAL

It's a shootout in game one after Thomas sunk it in on the green and let out a roar of passion to put the pressure on Europe who had two chances at it. Lowry went first and that's all she wrote as he guided it in to keep them 1UP. Lowry burst out himself, showing just how much these lads care about it all. All to play for and it is HEATING UP.

It's kicking off in game 2!
Egos are boiling over on the 15th green right now. Justin Rose had his eyeline blocked by DeChambeau's caddie and signalled him back. After Rose holed his putt, DeChambeau matched the European's but decided to give a bit of grief back to the European pair and it was all bickering from there. Francesco Molinari had to get involved to smooth things over as they approached the 16th. This is getting fiesty...

Game 2 is over and it's Europe's!
Justin Rose secure the 3&2 victory for Europe in the 15th hole after an immense display from the two today. Now it's down to the rest of their team to see out a victory and a rather embarrassing day for the US.

GAME 1 GOES TO EUROPE
McIlroy and Lowry get the job done in an emotional match. Shane Lowry hit a brilliant iron on the 18th leaving him just a few yards. Young and Thomas both landed on the edge of the green with their iron shots leaving a European victory inevitable. After a wide shot from 5 yards out by Thomas, it was Europe who took the win, and well deserved given the circumstances and tense atmosphere today.
THE US LEVEL THINGS IN GAME 3
Rahm let it slide on the 17th in his first real shortcoming of the day and there is JJ Spaun to capitalise on his error to make things all level. Nail biting stuff going into the 18th, who will come out on top?
THERE IS RED ON THE BOARD
Game 3 ends with the US getting a point on the board, the first of the afternoon. It was JJ Spaun who tapped it in for a birdie to collect a huge point for the US.
Rahm and Straka can be proud of their effort today but ultimately will be disappointed they didn't contribute towards a whitewash going into Sunday's singles.
