Ryder Cup 2018: Tyrrell Hatton catches the bug as he sets sights on staying in Team Europe after Paris success

Tyrrell Hatton is determined to ensure his first taste of the Ryder Cup is not his last after savouring his role in Europe's victory in Paris.

The 26-year-old rookie was proud of his performance in the 17.5-10.5 defeat of the United States at Le Golf National, which included an impressive showing in the fourballs.

Hatton twice teamed up with fellow Englishman Paul Casey and they beat Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler 3&2 on Saturday after narrowly losing to crack American duo Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas the previous day.

"It's very special," Hatton said. "It has been an honour to be part of this fantastic European team. We are all absolutely delighted to win the Ryder Cup back for Europe.

"Not many guys get to be part of a winning Ryder Cup team. It was my first Ryder Cup and it's been a dream come true.

"I've absolutely loved the week and, of course, I'll be trying my best to make the team in two years' time."

Hatton is ranked 26 in the world and qualified for the team after finishing third on the European points list.

He started his first Ryder Cup well as he and Casey shot eight under in their loss to Spieth and Thomas and then followed up strongly in the commanding victory over Johnson and Fowler.

Hatton was unable to win his singles match on Sunday as he was beaten 3&2 by Patrick Reed but that could not detract from the overall team success.

He said: "There has been a togetherness within the team all week. We knew coming out on Sunday that it was going to be a tough day but the lads that won their points stepped up and did it for the team. It is a very special moment."
