Europe seized control of the 2018 Ryder Cup on a thrilling second day in Paris.
The hosts took the morning fourballs 3-1 before keeping that advantage in the afternoon foursomes to take what could prove a decisive 10-6 lead into the final day.
Here's how it played out:
"We've got to take all that in, and you look at Brookline, Medinah, plenty of examples of these scorelines not meaning a lot until you get to singles. Just keep going. Keep going hard, keep going with what we've got, and you know, I've seen too many times what the singles does."It's a completely different game tomorrow and that makes a lot of refocusing and getting back into that team room and recover. We used a lot of energy these days. We go again tomorrow. Try and focus on what's ahead."
Stenson: "It was a tough match and we were up there coming into the last couple of holes, and Brooks, he hit a lovely shot into 15 and I didn't hit my best shot into 16 and it all got very interesting from there on, but a couple of big putts from me that I managed to squeeze in the right direction."
Rose: "We hung with it. We knew like yesterday, if you can keep around even par in foursomes - and it was probably hard for them to find their best stuff this afternoon, too."
"Everything feels pretty good. Just the fact that I lost three matches, and didn't feel like I played poorly. That's the frustrating thing about match play. We can play well and nothing can happen. We ran against two guys that were both playing well and when one was out of the hole, especially in best-ball, the other one made birdie and vice versa. They did that a lot to us. At one point, they made, what, six out of eight birdies on the back nine, and only one person was in the hole at a time. That's the nature of match play."
Garcia & Noren def by. Watson & Simpson 3&2
It's all coming to a close now. They were dormie-four and managed to clinch one. Then they came to the par-3 sixteenth and Alex Noren must have thought he'd won that too after he his tee-shot dropped like a stone in gimme range but Bubba was up to the task. He hit it to ten feet and Simpson putt to half ended the comeback. 10-5 now.
People were wondering whether we'd ever see the old Tiger Woods again. Now he's royally screwing up in the Ryder Cup, I'd say he's well and truly here. Welcome back, old friend.
