Rybakina eases into French Open last 32, racks up 30th win of 2023

NEW DELHI: In an impressive display at the French Open, Elena Rybakina, currently ranked fourth in the world, secured her 30th victory of the year on Thursday, propelling her into the last 32 in Paris.

Rybakina, the reigning Wimbledon champion, triumphed over Czech prodigy Linda Noskova with a convincing score of 6-3, 6-3. Her next challenge awaits in the form of Spain's Sara Sorribes Tormo, with the winner advancing to the last 16.

The Kazakhstani fourth seed, who has a chance to claim the coveted world number one ranking by the conclusion of Roland Garros, capitalised on three out of ten break-point opportunities and delivered an astounding 30 winners against her 18-year-old opponent Noskova.

Among all the players on the tour this year, only Aryna Sabalenka, the Australian Open champion and world number two, has amassed more victories than Rybakina. Sabalenka's count stands at 31, putting her in contention for the top spot in women's tennis.

As Rybakina continues her formidable run at the French Open, tennis enthusiasts worldwide eagerly anticipate her upcoming matches as she seeks to ascend to new heights in her career.
