Ryat Linn Reservoir incident: Police respond to report of 'people in difficulty in water'

Emergency services scrambled to Ryat Linn Reservoir near Barrhead this evening after receiving reports of 'people in difficulty in the water'.

Police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews rushed to the water, which is located between Barrhead and Newton Mearns in the Dams to Darnley Country Park, at around 7.15pm.

However, having since made enquiries, police have confirmed no-one was in difficulty, despite the alarm having been raised.

Officers say they will be working to remind people of the dangers of being in the water in the coming days.
