Ryanair has told its staff it the budget airline has 500 more pilots and 400 more cabin crew than it needs - and job losses are coming soon.
Chief Executive Michael O'Leary made the comments in an internal video after the firm's financial results were released on Monday.
The first round of job cuts are set to take place around the end of September, and the second after Christmas.
The firm is blaming problems with its new planes for the cuts.
Ryanair this month cut the number of 737 MAX jets it expects to fly next summer from 58 to 30 due to delivery delays.
For the airline that means 5 million fewer passengers, less growth and staff cuts - but for passengers it means the fewer places to fly to.
"This shortfall in aircraft deliveries will necessitate some base cuts and closures for summer 2020, but also for the winter 2019 schedule," O'Leary said earlier this month.
"We are starting a series of discussions with our airports to determine which of Ryanair's underperforming or loss making bases should suffer these short term cuts and/or closures from November 2019."
And Ryanair is 100% placing the blame on Boeing's planes being late.
"We will also be consulting with our people and our unions in planning and implementing these base cuts and closures, which are directly caused by the B737 MAX delivery delays to the B737 MAX program," O'Leary said.
The airline hopes to be back to where it thought it would be by winter 2020.
