The Irish have been fully embracing a return to international travel, even with the added complication of the EU Digital Covid Certs, Passenger Locator Forms and numerous PCR tests.
While many have been heading away since July 19’s easing of restrictions, they seem to be opting for the budget-friendly Ryanair seats in droves as the airline surpasses the number it saw in March 2020.
The huge leap in passengers over the past four weeks will come as a welcome improvement for the Irish airline after months of planes being grounded amid the pandemic.
In an infographic published today, figures show that more than 82% of seats across 71,000 scheduled flights were sold, during the month of August alone.

As well as this, 11.1 million passengers travelled with them in the same monthly period, which marks a major milestone as it beats out their pre-Covid numbers from 2020.
With restrictions ultimately winding to close over the next two months, it’s likely the airline will see another boost in numbers as countries outside of the EU reopen for Irish tourists and workers.
Meanwhile, passengers who avail of the Aircoach as a means of transport to the airport will be happy to see the 702 Greystones and 703 Dalkey/ Killiney route returning to service.
Both popular routes will resume operation from September 12.
The service from Greystones will leave at 4:10 am every day from Charlesland, with buses every two hours until 6pm.
The first Killiney bus to the airport will leave Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel at 4:55 am and will collect people from this stop every two hours until 8:55 pm.
