Ryanair's cheeky jibe at BA flight landing in wrong country massively backfires

It's not every day a plane lands in a completely different country by mistake , but hey, we're all human.

Yesterday at 7.47am, BA3271 set off for Dusseldorf, Germany, yet ended up in Edinburgh.

The British Airways pilot has since said the flight plan he was given directed him to the Scottish capital, where he touched down at 9am.

As you'd expect, there was widespread bafflement and amusement - although we imagine the passengers on the flight probably didn't see the funny side immediately...

Then Ryanair decided to get in on the banter, and it's gone and backfired.

The Irish budget airline tweeted at BA a pictures of Geography for Dummies along with the caption "Hey, we have a present for you."

It took people practically no time whatsoever to respond with a few tongue-in-cheek home truths.

Showing that they can poke fun at themselves, when a BA staff member replied with: "Now, now. No one is perfect." Ryanair replied with: "True, Lolly! Even we wouldn't flog Edinburgh as Germany #DusseldorfNorth."

All joking aside, Ryanair made a very similar mistake back in 2016 when a flight from Liverpool bound for Derry somehow landed at a military base just five miles away.
