Ryanair passengers disrupted because of the M11 closure this morning will be able to get on the next available flight, the airline confirmed this morning.

The motorway, which links London and Cambridge, was shut in both directions this morning following an accident near junction eight – the exit for Stansted Airport.

Stansted Airport said this morning that travellers should allow extra time when travelling to and from the airport and use an alternative route if possible.

Ryanair, the biggest operator out of Stansted Airport, said that flights would depart as scheduled, but that passengers who missed their flight would be offered the next available flight for free.

Highways England said this morning that the M11 remained closed northbound between junction six and junction eight and southbound between junction eight and junction seven.

“There are long delays and diversions in place,” it said.

Alternatively, customers can use the Stansted Express train service to reach the airport, which runs between London, Stansted Airport and Cambridge.
