Ryanair passengers 'refuse to sit in dirty seats' surrounded by food waste

Ryanair passengers say they were left dismayed when they boarded a 'filthy plane' with crisps ground into the carpet.

Photos taken on a flight from Ibiza to Manchester earlier this month show the mess that passengers claim awaited them as they climbed on board.

In one image, stains can be seen on the seats, with food littered on the floor below.

Crisps and crumbs are pictured strewn across the footwells.

The mess caused distress among those who were on board the UK bound flight.

One flier, Tash, shared the images online following the June 17 service.

She told MailOnline: "People refused to sit there, it was like this more or less all over the plane

"It was dirty and unclean. It's understandable it wouldn't be the cleanest, however you can tell they haven't attempted to clear it at all."

She also accused staff of failing to check her Covid-19 form and not ensuring that those on the plane abide by social distancing measures.

Another Ryanair passenger took to social media to vent his frustrations about a similar experience.

Ryanair says that its crews clean the planes after every flight (PA)

He wrote: "Just got off the Liverpool - Malta flights.

"Opened the tray table to put some snacks on - it was filthy with grime and dust. No way has been cleaned."

A Ryanair spokesperson said: “Ryanair has a new set of health measures in place to prevent any spread of Covid-19. We are regularly assessing the effectiveness of these measures and we continue to work with our people to ensure our guidelines are followed.

"In line with industry standards, our cabin crew carry out a cabin tidy and toilet check at the end of every flight, and at the end of each day all Ryanair aircraft are thoroughly cleaned with hospital grade disinfectant, which is effective for over 24 hours.

"Throughout our flights cabin crew make a number reminders through the public address system to ensure compliance about masks. This is in accordance with our new procedures.

"We are following up with our crew in relation to this flight.”
