Ryanair passenger tied to seat after threatening to open door mid-flight

Those aboard a Ryanair flight have told of their shock and horror after a fellow passenger “went berserk” and attempted to open one of the plane’s doors mid-flight.

The male had to be fastened to his seat on the flight by a security guard who was off duty and on his first ever flight, it is claimed in local reports.

The man is said to have been tied to his seat during the Ryainair flight that was travelling between Seville and Budapest after a fight broke out.

It is also alleged by the Spanish press that the male became aggressive mid-way through the journey with witnesses claiming that the man began to kick seats and threaten fellow passengers with a pen as well as abusing women sitting near him.

A security guard who was travelling on the same flight with his partner offered to help the flight attendants which at first was declined, La Razon reports.

However, a few minutes later, he was asked to intervene as the man was threatening to open a door mid-flight.

The security guard managed to control the irate passenger, who was wrestled to the ground before being secured on a seat with the safety belts.

The pilot of the Ryanair flight at one stage had to leave the cabin to help deal with the commotion which was said to have caused panic on board, it is reported.

Police were waiting at Budapest-Ferenc Liszt airport where the man was arrested, it was reported.

The security guard who helped to contain the passenger said it had been his first-ever flight.

The incident happened on November 11 but full details have only just emerged, together with a video posted on YouTube.

It shows a number of passengers wearing masks standing in the aisle as the commotion goes on around them. Shouting can be heard, together with a flight attendant calling for calm.

Ryanair have been asked to comment.
