Budget carrier Ryanair has announced a host of extra flights for the festive period.
The extra routes will operate from December 17 fights from Stansted to Athens, Bucharest, Budapest, Malaga and Seville, and Manchester to the Canary islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.
The increased capacity will be available until January 9 to cover the new year period.
A seat sale will see fares lead-in at £19.99 one-way for bookings made by midnight on Thursday, November 19.
Commercial director Jason McGuinness said: “We are delighted to announce an additional flights this December and January, just in time to fly everyone home to celebrate Christmas with their families and friends.”
Meanwhile, the airline confirmed additional domestic flights from December 4, following the UK Government’s ‘travel window’ announcement permitting students to travel home for Christmas.
This states that universities should revert to online teaching to allow students to travel home between December 3-9 and Ryanair has announced a new Edinburgh-Stansted link operating twice weekly between December 4 and Janaury 8.
Three other domestic routes that will offer students the chance to travel home ahead of the busy Christmas season. These are between Derry and Liverpool, plus Belfast and Stansted along with Edinburgh and Derry.
Ryanair’s Alejandra Ruiz said: “We welcome this ‘travel window’ guidance which allows students the opportunity to fly home to their families and friends, in advance of the busy Christmas travel rush."
