Ryanair, Jet2 and TUI announce when their flights will resume

The coronavirus has grounded all non-essential flights to and from the UK, forcing thousands of people to abandon their holiday plans.

But there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon, despite current Foreign Office advise against all travel abroad.

This week, major airlines including Jet2, Ryanair and TUI have announced when they will resume flights.

Jet2

In a statement this week, Jet2 said: "In view of the ongoing uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we have taken the decision to recommence our flights and holidays programme on June 17.

"This means for customers travelling before this date, unfortunately your flights and holidays will not be operating."

They added that they would contact all affected customers to discuss their options, which includes rebooking to a later date.

They said: "Please do bear with us, and we thank customers in advance for their loyalty, understanding and patience."

Ryanair

Ryanair will spend the upcoming weeks operating on a limited schedule.

But CEO Michael O'Leary has said the airline will return to a normal schedule of commercial flights in June.

For now, however, and through to at least April 16, the airline says it will continue to work with EU governments to keep limited flight links open for emergency reasons, despite low passenger loads.

The airline is waiving change fees for customers with flights booked up to the end of May, which can be changed to date up until the end of August.

TUI

Meanwhile, TUI has cancelled all trips until May 14 and Marella Cruise holidays until June.

However, the dates are subject to change.

In a statement, the tour operator said they would "continue to amend and adapt timings in line with the latest global travel advice".

A spokeswoman of for the group added: "We are constantly monitoring the situation and will start taking people on holiday again as soon as we are able to do so."

Travellers who have holidays already booked with Tui will be given the option of a cash refund or the choice of an alternative holiday of the same cash amount to another destination.
