Ryanair is selling flights from Bristol Airport for £19.99

Ryanair is offering cheap flights from Bristol to destinations including Spain, Italy and Greece.

The budget airline has confirmed it will be flying to more than 30 destinations from the city as part of its summer schedule, including a new twice-weekly route to Vienna in Austria.

The airline has already restarted post-lockdown flights from Bristol Airport and is now selling bargain flights for £19.99 for travel until the end of October.

The flights are on sale until midnight on Sunday (July 12) and are subject to terms and conditions, Ryanair said.

“Following the lifting of travel restrictions, Bristol holidaymakers can now look forward to planning a well-deserved summer getaway on the lowest fares with the new health measures that Ryanair has rolled out to protect the health and wellbeing of its people as it ramps up operations this summer," said Ryanair’s Eimear Ryan.

Dave Lees, chief executive of Bristol Airport added: “The range of routes available offers customers from the South West and Wales region a choice and flexibility of destinations using their local airport.

"We continue to partner with Ryanair to look at future route opportunities.”

The airport said it is working in line with government guidance and has introduced a number of measures to keep passengers and staff safe.

Measures include enhanced cleaning procedures, social-distancing policies, one-way queuing systems, hand sanitiser points, contactless payment facilities, signs, protective screens for customer interaction points and masks for staff.

The news comes as Bristol Airport confirms it has been hit hard by the impact of coronavirus - and is planning to cut up to 23 per cent of its workforce.

In a letter seen by Bristol Live, it said passenger numbers had dropped from more than 870,000 in May 2019 to just 874 in the same month this year.

The airport said its position was “unsustainable” given its ongoing fixed costs and it would make a “very significant” loss this financial year.
