Ryanair Glasgow bound flight declares mid-air emergency over Scotland

A Ryanair flight travelling from Dublin to Glasgow was forced to declare a mid-air emergency over Scotland.

The flight RYR5776 departed from the Irish capital at around 8:30pm on Monday, August 30.

The Boeing 737-800 is understood to have begun squawking alert code 7700 declaring an emergency situation onboard the aircraft.

It's thought the flight was near Irvine, in Ayrshire, when it let out the emergency signal.

Despite the signal, the plane is understood to have safely landed in Glasgow at around 9:15pm last night.

The nature of the incident remains unclear.

Ryanair has been contacted for comment.
