Ryanair announces seven new destinations

Low-cost carrier Ryanair announced today that from April 5 it will offer daily flights to seven new destinations from Stansted airport, including the first services by the airline to Austria and Belgium.

The new routes to be operated from Stansted are Brussels, Salzburg, Esbjerg in Denmark, Pescara and Trieste in Italy and Gothenburg and Stockholm in Sweden. Return fares will start at £49 to Brussels, where there will be six flights daily. On its new Austrian and Belgian routes, Ryanair will be competing directly with British Airways, Germany's Lufthansa and Belgium's Sabena.

Ryanair also announced today that it will be increasing the frequency of flights on some of its existing routes from Stansted, with additional daily services to Dublin and Shannon in Ireland and Prestwick in Scotland.

"This will undoubtedly be Ryanair's most successful summer schedule ever," said chief executive Michael O'Leary. He added that Ryanair was continuing its policy of increasing competitive pressure on European airlines and their "rip-off" fares. This summer Ryanair will fly on 52 routes to 47 destinations around Europe.
