Ryanair announces plans to resume flights from July 1

Ryanair has announced it is set to restore two out of five flights from July 1.

Following the coronavirus lockdown the operator grounded 99% of its flights but kept minimum flight links open for emergency reasons from April to June.

The news was followed by a warning of up to 3,000 jobs to go with some remaining staff facing a 20% paycut.

The airline said: “Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today announced plans to return to 40% of normal flight schedules from Wednesday 1 July 2020, subject to Government restrictions on intra-EU flights being lifted, and effective public health measures being put in place at airports.

“Ryanair will operate a daily flight schedule of almost 1,000 flights, restoring 90% of its pre-Covid-19 route network.”

Passengers with bookings for travel which have been affected by coronavirus have been told they can rebook or reroute their flights, where possible.

Those wishing to cancel their trips have been offered travel credit with chief executive Michael O'Leary warning that refunds would be delayed due to the large volume of requests and could take up to six months to process.

Government guidelines issued this week said that anyone entering the UK would be subject to 14 days in quarantine as the struggle to control coronavirus continues.

This proposal will not apply to passengers returning from France and Ireland.
