Ryan Yates injury update 'emerges' ahead of imminent Nottingham Forest transfer

Ryan Yates reportedly faces up to three weeks on the sidelines after picking up a calf injury in Wednesday night’s defeat to Middlesbrough.

The midfielder limped off in the closing stages of the 2-1 loss as Nottingham Forest’s seven-game unbeaten run came to end.

Yates has been a regular starter for Chris Hughton’s side this season and opened his account in the win against Millwall last weekend.

But the Reds are now set to be without the 23-year-old for the next three weeks, according to the Mirror.

That would rule Yates out of Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Swansea and the subsequent Championship fixtures against Barnsley, Coventry and Wycombe.

Asked for an update on Yates ahead of the weekend trip to Wales, Hughton said: “He felt his calf. At one stage, he thought that he could continue, but obviously that wasn’t the case.

“He’s a little bit sore this morning. He’ll certainly miss the weekend, and the next couple of days will really determine how long it’s going to keep him out.

“It’s a big blow for us. We hope it’s not too serious.

“Whenever you have an injury, you have to allow a certain amount of time just for it to settle down, then you will scan it and that will tell you the extent of the injury.

“It’s a calf injury, but it’s really about what the extent of it is which will determine how long he’s out for.

“It seems like it’s nothing more than that at this moment. But what grade it is will determine how long he’s out for.”

Hughton’s injury concerns in midfield - which also include Harry Arter and Jack Colback - are set to be eased with the arrival of Filip Krovinovic on loan from Benfica.

The Croatian, 25, has spent the first half of the season at West Bromwich Albion after helping the Baggies to promotion last term.
