Ryan Tubridy has thanked the “countless troops” who helped him on this year’s Late Late Toy Show.
The annual RTE event has so far raised more than €5.45million for good causes since being launched on Friday.
The TV host posted on Instagram on Sunday morning to give his thanks, saying: “Where to begin? With a big thank you to the countless troops in the Toy Show army who soldiered tirelessly to make Friday happen. And to the most amazing children in the world for joining us and teaching us. And to all the passers by with kind words. Thanks everyone. Every child counts.”
Revolut co-founder Vlad Yatsenko is to donate €100,000 and match any donations this weekend up to €1million.
The brilliant gesture comes after issues with the app on Friday as millions of people attempted to donate to the fund during the RTE spectacular.
He said: "What an incredible support RevolutApp customers gave to a worthy charity RTELateLateShow! Granted, there were some challenges at the peak of the live campaign. So, I've personally donated €100K, and will also match any further donations this weekend via RevolutApp up to €1M."
The app had struggled for a while on Black Friday, with customers having problems signing in, making card payments, topping up their bank cards or making money transfers.
